Pork Pie Hat

Pork pie hat has been popular since the mid-19th century, made famous by jazz musicians in 1950’s. Most people probably refer it bassist hat. It features a flat crown that resembles a traditional pork pie.

Old folks probably remember this hat style from 1971 film The French Connection worn by Gene Hackman’s character Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle.

Younger generations know it because of Breaking Bad, where Heisenberg, the alter ego of Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) wears a pork pie hat. Heisenberg’s bad ass persona is strictly associated with this hat.
